Situational Photography - Having fun with one subject with multiplicity

me-in-three

Situational photography is always fun when you use only one subject in the shot, and have a great idea to express through the photo. Above is a picture of me x3, which is not situational, but does show you something of the subject. When I took this photo in 2004, I wanted to show 3 different sides of me: 1.] “At work” clothing. 2.] Nightlife Andrew, 3.] Casual me.

What is “situational photography?” Think of it as a single backdrop for all your photos of the subject, where they do different poses to tell a story. Then they’re edited in Photoshop, to give the effect.

Above is an example of the idea. Two different photographs were taken in exactly the same spot, and then added to give you 2 subject in one photograph.

Lately I have been wanting to play around with creating a few of my own, and offered my sister Nicole to do it. She was interested, so we’re hoping to come up with some fun ideas.

Stay tuned to see the results. I’ll be visiting my sister in a week, so check back two Mondays from now to see them. You’ll be able to see them on our Flickr.com acct.
