Wedding Capital of the World
The first thing that comes to mind when reading this title is Las Vegas, but 2 days ago, I witnessed the true wedding capital of the world, Salt Lake City, Utah.
I took a trip to Salt Lake City to visit several friends I used to know in SoCal, that I hadn’t seen in several years. Three of them have started a photography business and part of that business is doing weddings. I was curious to see why they added weddings to their business model, so my buddy Joey decided to show me.
On April 25th, 2009, I toured the heart of Salt Lake City on a very cloudy day with my friend Joey. The biggest part of visiting SLC, is visiting the Mormon temple, aka Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I’m a man with little knowledge of religion, so I can’t give you the history surrounding it.
When we hit the outside of the temple, you can see 7 or 8 young brides and grooms with their entourage of photographers taking their pictures. Keep in mind, this is only April, one week after their snow season. Looking through the gates of the temple, you can see many more couples getting married. During our 20 minute walk in and around the temple, we saw over 20-25+ couples getting married, and most of them under the age of 25.
Below [1 up top] are pictures of 10 different couples that I took while fighting through all the crowds [families]. I couldn’t get a shot of all of them because of angles or Joey rushing me through the temple.
