My Trip to Mt Rainier, Washington

I had the weekend off and with an act of God, I had amazing weather in the state of Washington. I wanted to get out and take some pictures for practice, before my big trip to St Thomas, Virgin Islands, which happens in a week.
On the drive up to Mt Rainier, I came across a foggy lake [pictured above]. I was like a kid in a candy store when I saw it, because I’ve been wanting to take some “foggy” pictures. I quickly parked the car on the side of the road. After taking the shot above, along with others like it, I decided to explore.
After a short walk around the lake’s edge, I stumbled across an amazing shot of a tiny island in the middle of the lake. It was beautiful and a pain in the ass to photograph, because of the constant movement of the fog sometimes hid the island completely. The photograph came out just as I saw it, along with the darkness in the water on the bottom of the photograph.
As I started my drive up the mountain towards Paradise Park, I stopped next to a river bed, which happened to be Paradise River that feeds into the Nisqually River. When I noticed an excellent view of Mt Rainier, I decided to take the bulk of my photos walking along the river.

Jumping over rocks, crossing raging waters with fallen trees, brought me back to my childhood. Thanks for being dressed for the occasion, I didn’t even get wet. I definitely got my exercise that day.

One great thing about visiting a snow covered mountain near summer, is all the water from the melting snow. With all that water, comes waterfalls, which I’ve never photographed before. Thankfully, my photos turned out well. Below is my favorite shot out of all the waterfalls, because 3 different falls were in the same shot.
If you love the photos and would like a print, please visit my Flickr for the full size of the photos. Download it and have it printed. All my photos I share are in high resolution.
